Abstract

The following article looks into some of Carolina Maria de Jesus' works with attention to the way her approach of scarcity transposes the explicit written content and is pronounced through her own writing style. It also explores Carolina’s idea about the act of reading and writing as a way of mobilization of poor people against the misery to which they are subjugated. The historical context, the editorial process and other active aspects in the publication of Quarto de Despejo also have place in this article in order to highlight the relationship between the author, her image and the impacts of this elements inside her work and in her life.
