Abstract

This issue brings together essays that are committed to reflecting on the theme of reconstructions. Still dealing with the impacts of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the instability that hunger has been causing in the Brazilian population, subjected to the protagonism of technologies in everyday life, the formulation of Lévi-Strauss, also sung by Caetano Veloso, “Aqui tudo parece/ que era ainda construção /e já é ruína” (“Here everything seems / that was still construction / and it is already a ruin”) was a welcom - ing beginning to reflect on the fractures of the modernizing project that characterizes Brazil in particular, and to ask ourselves to what extent it is possible to rebuild something on bases that were never cohesively built. In this scenario, how can we celebrate the centenary of the Modern Art Week and its desire for a nation, and also review and revise the importance of a re-reading of the 200th anniversary of Brazil’s Independence or the 300th anniversary of Minas Gerais?
