Décadas depois do processo de descolonização, os escritores africanos contemporâneos procuram fazer uma crítica aos rumos tomados pelas novas nações e oferecer respostas para o fim das utopias revolucionárias. Em A montanha da água lilás, Pepetela rememora o passado recente de Angola em forma de fábula para criticar os erros cometidos e reiterar sua confiança no sonho socialista remodelado.References
