The animal epic: felines and insects

In their works, a nineteenth-century Brazilian writer, A. d’Escragnolle-Taunay (Viscount Taunay), and the twentieth- century Irish writer James Joyce place their characters confronting the animal, creating situations in which the epic narrative begins to be viewed from a reverse perspective, i.e., from beings that crawl or walk on four legs. The ground, not the sky, is the limit of the heroic and warrior-like character.
