Brazilian modern poetry, football, memory, João Cabral de Melo NetoAbstract
Museu de tudo (1975) is a book of the collected poems João Cabral de Melo Neto wrote until the previous year, in which two compositions should be highlighted: “Ademir da Guia” and “A Ademir Meneses”. The poems pay homage to two football players named Ademir, who were dear to the poet, and suggest some poetic experimentation through the dialogue between them. It must be taken into consideration that the year before the volume publication, the World Cup in Germany had been taking place and Brazil was under the dictatorship effects. What interests here is to focus on the Brazilian poet and diplomat’s views, who nurtured great interest in football.
