Abstract: This brief essay aims at investigating how, in the “experimental short films” of Cao Guimarães, the proposition of a cinema (almost) without a reference functions to the literature and the drama, or, in Dziga-Vertov’s words, without actors, without characters, without dialogues and without story. And how the text and the word resist, with their subtle presence, the purification which leads to the formal autonomy of the image.
Keywords: experimental cinema; Cao Guimarães; non-literature.
