Résumé

O presente artigo busca discutir a construção das masculinidades em Of mice and man (1937), de John Steinbek, questionando-se acerca da formação das masculinidades no espaço rancheiro estadunidense e tomando como foco principal os personagens Lennie e George. Para tal, este trabalho se utiliza das contribuições de Connel e Messerschmidt (2013), Connel (2005), Reeser (2010) e Laing (1969). Este estudo justifica-se por contribuir com os estudos acerca da masculinidade, os quais têm se destacado nas últimas décadas e têm tornado disponíveis novas ferramentas para a exposição e imposição masculina.

Atualmente é Mestrando do programa de literatura comparada da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel), atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Utopia, Distopia, transumanidade, pós-modernidade e pós-humanidade.

Professora Adjunta da Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. Doutora em Germanistk/Ältere Deutsche Literatur (Germanística/Literatura Alemã Antiga) pela Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (2011) sob a orientação da Prof. Dr. Ingrid Bennewitz (com bolsa DAAD). Possui mestrado em História Comparada pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2005) e graduação em Letras Português-Alemão pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2002). Foi professora substituta da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro na Faculdade de Letras, Departamento de Letras Anglo-Germânicas, Setor de Alemão (2005-2006) e professora contratada da Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (2009-2010). Atua no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras (PPGL) e no Programa de Pós-Gradução em História (PPGH) da Universidade Federal de Pelotas. Tem experiência na área de Letras (Língua e Literatura Alemã) e História Comparada, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Literatura e História, Literatura em Médio-Alto-Alemão, Recepção do Medieval, Estudos de Gênero, Masculinidades e Queer, Ritual e Corpo e Estudos de Intermidialidade.
