Ex-combatente historiador: reflexões antigas e contemporâneas

Tucídides e Políbio têm em comum o fato de serem ex-combatentes que, em decorrência do fracasso, foram obrigados a se exilar e, durante tal intervalo, optaram por escrever história, o que seria um modo, mesmo que indireto, de agir politicamente. O texto discute pressupostos historiográficos de cada historiador que indicam como sua experiência político-militar prévia contribuiu para com a respectiva escrita da história, e sugere como as contribuições de cada um podem ainda ser úteis para atuais reflexões historiográficas – especificamente, para a discussão sobre as porosidades entre ficção e historiografia.
