“Poesia é vertical”: Samuel Beckett e a criatividade vanguardista

Ao debruçar-se sobre o envolvimento de Samuel Beckett no surrealismo, evidenciado pela assinatura, em 1932, do manifesto “Poesia é vertical”, e culminado em Murphy, o artigo tenta resgatar alguns traços da teoria do sublime de Burke na visão vanguardista da criatividade. A acentuação da verticalidade subverte não apenas a experiência desencarnada do sublime, tal como conceituado na estética tradicional, como também insiste em sua reinterpretação no âmbito da psicanálise, permitindo, dessa forma, a elaboração de uma reflexão sobre o prazer do trabalho da escrita e sobre a relevância da destruição nos processos criativos. Constituindo uma resposta ao Segundo Manifesto do Surrealismo (1930), permeado pela violência, e coincidindo com a reformulação freudiana do processo da sublimação, no qual acontece a troca não apenas da direção da pulsão, mas também de seu objeto, o manifesto conta ainda com a assinatura de Hans Arp, abrindo-se, assim, a uma discussão sobre a importância da relação entre os regimes visual e verbal.
