Entre a objetividade e a fantasia
reflexões de Alfred Döblin sobre o romance

Com uma atuação teórica intensa no início século XX, Alfred Döblin foi um autor que se dedicou ativamente a refletir sobre o romance. Este artigo parte de dois conceitos apresentados em “A construção da obra épica” (1928) para discutir a concepção de romance formulada na obra teórica de Döblin. Procura avaliar, ainda, como essa concepção dialoga com os debates artísticos da época. Para isso, começaremos apresentando dois conceitos-chave do ensaio: relato e fantasia. Em seguida, mostraremos como o uso do conceito de relato remonta a reflexões tecidas desde os primeiros escritos de Döblin e ao diálogo intenso com o Futurismo. Ponderaremos também acerca do conceito de fantasia e sua relação com as noções de objetividade/relato. Por fim, comentaremos como a mudança de peso conferida à relação entre os dois termos, em 1928, deve ser compreendida à luz do debate sobre o romance-reportagem da Nova Objetividade
