Abstract

Based on questions arising from the anti-colonialist critique, as well as concepts such as atmoterrorism and biopolitics, this article weaves some considerations about the artistic representation of the politics of death undertaken by the accumulative furor of capitalism. Such furor is now expressed, as we have tried to demonstrate, in a new phase, defined here, for lack of another term, as necroliberalism. The works in question are by two Argentine artists: Distancia de regate, by writer Samanta Schweblin, and the photo essay El costo humano de los agrotóxicos, by Pablo Ernesto Piovano. In these works, a new expression of these policies (the indiscriminate use of pesticides) is shown through a monstrous field-body dyad.

Professor of Spanish, Literature and Latin from the "Instituto Superior del Profesorado Joaquín V. González (2009), Buenos Aires, Argentina / Degree in Literature from the Federal University of Santa Catarina; Master in Literature from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2012), Florianópólis, Brazil; and PhD in Literature from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He has experience in the area of Latin American Literature. His current research develops with emphasis on literary theory, philosophy and Latin American literature. He is a researcher at the Juan Carlos Onetti Center for Latin American Literary Studies - UFSC; member of the research group "Latin American Imaginaries" (ILA) - UNILA.
