Abstract

In order to perform this study 20 artificial conducts were constructed in enamel and dentin blocks of bovine teeth. Ten fiberglass and ten carbon fiber dowels were cemented in the conduct making use of C&B resin cement. It has been applied a polycarbonate matrix to build the core in resin-based composite, forming four different groups: Group (1) fiberglass dowel and charisma-composite resin core; Group (2) Carbon fiber dowel and Charisma composite resin core; Group (3) fiberglass dowel and reinforced resin composite enforce core; Group (4) Carbon fiber dowel and reinforced resin composite enforce core. The mechanical compression essays were performed in the universal testing machine EMIC DL 2000, with a charging cell of 2000Kgf and crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. It has been verified the statistical difference (p<0,005) (ANOVA) just for the resin factor to the issue addressed to the core fracture resistance measures, besides, there is no meaningful influence of the fiber type, not even for interaction between the 2 factors (resin X fiber), that is to say the conclusion to one factor remains the same independently on the other factors level. The results for the teeth with reinforced resin composite significantly differ from the teeth with non- reinforced resin composites, since the reinforced resin composite teeth presented expressively superior resistance measures whenever compared with the non-reinforced resin teeth; independently on the type of fiber (DUNCAN Test). Therefore, the fiber does not influence in the resistance result.
