This article searches for a contribution to the comprehension of a question little focused up this day in the history of Belo Horizonte and the great part of the Brazilian cities: the tense relation between the playful cultural practices experienced in the streets and non-school places, and the practices developed in the school context of Belo Horizonte, in the first three decades, since the foundation of the city (1897). Emphasizing the existing tension in this relationship, and not studying only one of them, the author wants to attract attention to the existence of continuity and break between these two ways and moments of making and living the cultural practices, particularly those liked to the corporal and to the playful ones.
