Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the constant challenge in aligning and reconciling public policies within the scope of cultural heritage management, in relation to tourism planning strategies, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The study seeks to contribute to contemporary interdisciplinary investigations in the field of culture and tourism, using a case that exemplifies the conflicting relationship of the built environment with a heritage character, in the face of processes of urbanization of spaces, processes oriented by the absence and imposition between the cultural and tourist agendas at the state level, in the face of a municipal case. The discussion presented here seeks to exemplify gaps and possible neglects identified in state tourism and heritage policies in the city of Holambra, in which the material cultural heritage of Dutch colonization in the city is historically neglected by the public authorities local, and as we will see, also by the state.
