Over the last years, a lot has being said about the so-called “environment issue” and the possible courses through which the planet might go concerning the environmental quality levels. The environmentalist movement has been one of the great actors in these constant discussions, as it has gone through frequent changes, acquiring new facets and fans. On the other hand, Ecotourism is over discerned as an option to improve the environmental reality and as a tool that will help bring awareness regarding this problem. The purpose of the following article is to offer a brief explanation about the history and some of the different aspects of the environmental movement and it´s relation to the Ecotourism, realizing the real potentials and barriers of the activity to reach true environmental awareness.
