Abstract

The booklet titled Piyutim by Isaac P. Melul, from the collection of the Jewish Museum of São Paulo, a precious document not only for its main content – a collection of Hebrew liturgical poems – but for the most varied information recorded by the one who was known as Seu Melul – is the object of this text. The various data included in it, by bringing different aspects of Jewish life in Belém do Pará in the 20th century, help to compose the profile of what was the second Jewish community in the country.
