O tempo de vida do homem bíblico é, idealmente, um conjunto de três ciclos completos de quarenta anos cada, totalizando cento e vinte anos. O cento e vinte é um número idealmente paradigmático, matematicamente versátil e com um grande conteúdo simbólico – convencionalmente perfeito. Assim, a vida transitória fixada na expectativa de cento de vinte anos do homem carnal e mortal encontra seu significado por intermédio da promessa de vida longa e produtiva, que cumpre o seu propósito divinamente determinado e tem como ápice a saciedade.
