Este artigo é um texto de revisão teórica que destaca várias questões pedagógicas relacionadas à qualidade do ensino e da aprendizagem no ensino superior. Os objetivos deste artigo são, por um lado, a análise da relação das concepções de aprendizagem e abordagens ao estudo dos estudantes com os métodos de ensino e, por outro lado, evidenciar atitudes que professores e estudantes podem adotar para desenvolver uma aprendizagem significativa e um ensino com significado. Pretende-se contribuir para uma leitura crítica e construtiva no desenvolvimento de um ensino superior de qualidade. Para tal, enfatizamos a influência da avaliação no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, apresentamos alguns dos determinantes fundamentais para a promoção da qualidade no ensino superior e consideramos a inovação, a tecnologia e a globalização como fatores complementares para a melhoria das práticas educacionais no ensino superior atual.
