Abstract

The implementation of organizational strategies for an emergency mobile attendance system in Brazil has been a public health policy target of several government programs. The development of emergency care public policies in such a large country as Brazil is quite ambitious for both health managers and workers. This study considers the role of SAMU within the context of the public health policies in Belo Horizonte. A literature review study was developed, including the search for articles published during the last ten years. For the SUS, in the emergency attendance there is a challenge to be faced which includes an integral health system action plan, its workers and several other social actors. It deals with the shaping and implementation of transectoral policies supporting central medical regulation of emergencies. In spite of the Federal Governments, the scene for the consolidation of quality services is not favorable yet. The objective of the implantation of SAMU in Belo Horizonte was to gradually reduce the flow of users of emergency services, with adequate orientation and guidance. Currently, SAMU offers the population three phone options: medical guidance provided by a City Health Department professional, guidance for the use of adequate private resources and the release of a mobile rescue unit.
