Cultural Circles with the participation of elementary school male adolescents (years 7 and 9) aimed to build knowledge on STI/HIV/AIDS prevention considering cultural and religious aspects and using Paulo Freire's methodology. The Circles took place in public schools of Fortaleza-CE. The methodology favoured the (re)construction of the participants' knowledge on STI/AIDS, the reflection on and the problematization of experiences through the adoption of a free but responsible attitude. The study evidenced a strong male chauvinist culture as well as shyness regarding religiosity. It is necessary to reconstruct such values. Freire's method enables that reconstruction with freedom, ethics, casualness, commitment, and love for emancipatory practices in health education.Downloads
