The nurse as a member of the Family Health Program (FHP) team plays an important role in monitoring hypertensive patients. This study aims to describe the hypertensive patient's perception on nursing consultation. This is a descriptive and qualitative research carried out at a Family Health Program unit in Fortaleza-Ceará. Thirteen hypertensive individuals participated in the study. In the given categories, the patients reported that the nurses performed the pharmacological treatment follow up on those patients that already had a medical prescription. The clients pointed out that, amongst other tasks, the nurses advised on the importance of lifestyle changes for the control of arterial hypertension, requested examinations, and measured the blood pressure levels.Downloads
