Abstract

This study aims to analyze the education about Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing during the Technical Nursing Course and to evaluate its connection to the ideas of the Psychiatric Reform, based on a historical and dialectical materialism. The participants of study were nurse professors of the discipline and coordinators of the course. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview, a form and the curriculum structure of the course. Results show there is an alienation of the teaching work. Although the preventative and biological approach predominated, there were overcoming attempts with the insertion of subjects about the Psychiatric Reform and supervised internships in Centers of Psychosocial Attention.
