Abstract

The purpose of this research was to verify the obstetric and neonatal problems presented by adolescents and their children. This is a quantitative and analytic retrospective study, of 50 hospital files, and the data are presented in full numbers and percentages. The mainly obstetric problems presented by the adolescents in the labor room were the prolonged pregnancy and fetal suffering and during the puerperium, breastfeeding problems, especially nipple excoriation. The main problems presented by the newborn were low weight and neonatal jaundice. These data do not show high level risk to the adolescent mothers and their newborn babies.
