Abstract

This article raises questions on utopia in face of the challenges of democratic affirmation in a growing world, sidered by individualistic atomism and the neoliberal conception that seeks to naturalize it. Utopia that is gifted of formidable semantic ambiguity, crossing modern times, distinct ideologies and word representations, what makes difficult the task of defining a concept that works as operative instrument of minimum consensus on its meaning. Beyond the inevitable interpretation dissension, the article highlights the crucial role of utopia as anticipatory element of politic and juridic construction of new civilizing models, of society organization, of rationality re-delimitation. Notably, it’s undertaken to prove the actuality of democratic utopia in its substantial, agonistic plenitude, confounding itself with socialist/communist emancipatory project, in spite of tensions existing among Marxian and Marxist field concerning utopia due to large diffusion of scientistic and science apologetic thoughts as presumed superior and exhaustive knowledge of reality. However, such utterance is far from depleting the blooming of Marxist theoretic references and the challenges blown by the totalitarian post-modern winds of trade, as only the undisposable recognition of utopia may rescue the instituting vein of politics inscribed in democracy nowadays submitted to the wills of empty procedure and the boundless privatization.
