Abstract

The following article intends to revisit the classic literature about coalition government highlighting the relation between democracy and delegation without the ambition of exhaust the subject. Democracy is considered one of the most desirable political system for the humankind. According to the literature, a democratic system is only possible when the citizens delegates their power to the rulers. However, the delegation process also occur inside the government. In coalition governments, the question of delegation is strategic considering coordination and management issues. In general, delegation is recognized as an inherent feature of democracy system, however, the delegation occur regardless the political system or its internal conformation. Therefore, the tensions resulting from delegation are present in every political system. The article also discuss the impasse of Brazilian democracy and the collapse of coalition government
