The article presents a brief introduction into the Conceptual Metaphor Theory according to Lakoff & Johnson (1980/2003), showing on the basis of the genre ‘rap music’ how metaphors are incorporated in action and play an important role in our everyday interaction at a verbal as well as non-verbal level. Finally, we will show the communicative functions of meta-phors in dependence of their cultural locus.
