This paper intends to exemplify the poetic use of protocols related to technical objects, more specifically in relationships between art and technology. The flows and contexts of use of technical objects, as understood by Georges Simondon (1958), imply the existance of protocols. Lisa Gitelman (2006, p.5) has defined such protocols as “norms about how and where one uses it, but also standards like units of measure”. Based on that, this study presents some issues derived from the tension of protocols and technical objects as units of becoming, which creates poetic possibilities between art and technology.
