Shibboleth is the title chosen by Colombian artist, Doris Salcedo, for her installation at Tate Modern, in London, in 2007, a crack in the floor 167m long. From a phenomenological approach, associated with a conceptual theoretical dialogue, especially with works by Jacques Derrida and Georges Didi-Huberman, the article aims to discuss possible resonances of a work that happens as a presence and almost absence of itself. An installation that leaves traces when "dismantled", eluding its own erasure, evokes a history from which we must not let go at the same time that it becomes an indelible trace of another by resisting its disappearance. Central question, possibly inconclusive, what remains when one resists one's own erasure and disappearance?
