O CASO WERNER HOLT
Keywords:
German Democractic Republic, DEFA, Antifascist filmsAbstract
We discussed films of DEFA, former East German film company, focusing in The Adventures of Werner Holt (Die Abenteuer des Werner Holt, GDR, 1965). We expose ambiguities of characters, who are driven to make crucial choices in the face of Nazism and war. In a second level, the film reflects DEFA filmmakers own ambiguities face of socialism. The female characters grow in relevance in East German Cinema by constitute models to affirm and challenge the Totalitarianisms.
