Result of a scenic investigation conducted by Ortaet Theater Company, Neci revisits the narrative experiences of an elderly sertaneja (inhabitant of the Brazilian backcountry) and storyteller in the rural community of Quixelô, in Ceará. By interacting with the performance through photographic action, the visual poetry is redimendioned by incorporating the photographer as one of the agents in the scene and by taking other imagetic dimensions as constructions of meanings resulting from the encounter. In this essay, I dialogue with Rancière (2012) to discuss the possibilities of agency of the individuals involved in the instability of meanings within the theatrical scene, and in this, I perform this exercise in which photography emerges as a narrative inscription of the encounters in the scenic experience.
