As can be seen from the history of the training of information professionals around the world, institutional and professional leadership is desirable, but it is not just a change in the order of priorities that will lead us to the digital network revolution.
I dare say that there is an urgent need for researchers, librarians and managers to take a stand on the future of libraries in academic contexts. It is no longer acceptable for proposals and decision-making to bypass the professional debate and result in the proposal of exotic solutions that reveal the extent of the lack of knowledge of librarianship and make evident the risks of opportunism poorly disguised as avant-garde technological solutions.
