User study in the libraries of the University of Caxias do Sul

This article presents the results of the user study carried out by the University of Caxias do Sul Library System (SiBUCS) using the quantitative research method applied to the institution's academic community. The aim of this study was to measure the level of satisfaction of users of the libraries that are part of SiBUCS, as well as to analyze and meet their real needs when using the physical space and services offered. Also, through the results obtained, it was possible to draw up a user profile, verifying some information retrieval habits, as well as identifying and understanding their needs. As for the methodology applied, the research was based on the preparation of an electronic questionnaire containing 18 multiple-choice questions. The questionnaire was made available via a link generated by Google Forms and sent by e-mail to the institution's academic community. At the end of the questionnaire, there was a space for suggestions to improve the services offered. The majority of users stated that most of the time they find the material they are looking for and rated the library's services positively. User studies like this one in libraries are important for measuring the level of satisfaction and getting to know the profile of the target audience.
