This article shows a reading of China Iron’s Adventures, from Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, published in Brazil in 2021, based on the idea of a radical transformation of its characters towards the end of the world, as we know it. The reappropriation and rewriting of the Argentine Gaucho tradition, which puts on stage a woman who gradually slips out of any identity, towards new interspecies kinship formations, allows us to glimpse another type of mythical hero, displacing today anachronistic figurations of the Indian and of Gaucho, mainly, but also of other identities strongly constituted by the literary discourses that put on stage the national formation and the civilizing movement.
