This paper seeks to identify the relationship between the practice of soccer and poetry, taking both as cultural products, but of psychoanalytical implications. Taking the concept of semiotic space developed by Julia Kristeva, the article points out that there is a text that underlines football practices as well as literary ones. One of the main characteristics of this text is the play of abjection that is articulated in the context of poetry and sports and in other surrounding contexts. Thus, violence, horror and confrontation reveal a sense of death and annihilation, suffering and rebirth that are articulated in bodily performances. Scripts designed for the construction, vehiculating and performative exercise of a sportive physicality are culturally elaborated and learned, so that to perform the live text of masculinity, patriotism, heroism and belonging. Either athletes or public perform physically the great text of sports that mainly offers the construction and communication of identities.
