The essay tries to demonstrate how the author, George Didi-Huberman, in its work Écorces (barks), presents his own experience of Traces (W. Benjamin) and also his own interpretation of the laceration in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. His work is about a narrative of ruins through words and images (photography). Such writing is caught in between historic research and autobiographic literature.
