In this paper we seek to reflect on various aspects of translation from the contact between indigenous people and colonizers, members of religious orders and travelers to the translation difficulties that today plague the ethical relations between several people, indigenous and no-indigenous. Theoretical issues are scored as they collaborate to the discussion of translation practices and their political and ethical implications, the main question in this paper. The text recognizes that the problem of the translator’s ethical conduct arises above all in the intrinsic relations between Translation and Ethnography. While non-indigenous ethnographers and no-indigenous translators can not do without their cultural background, in their translation operations, the indigenous people also become translators of languages and cultures, demonstrating that the struggle for translations-interpretations has only just begun again. In order to do so, author such as Mittmann (2003), Ette (2018), Gallois (2001) and Risério (1993) are invited to dialogue, among others.
