Abstract

Written and staged in 1987 during the Troisièmes rencontres caribéennes de théâtre, in Guadeloupe, Ton beau capitaine, a Simone Schwarz-Bart’s play, stages the drama of Wilnor, a Haitian immigrant who leaves his homeland in search of a better life for himself and his family. A precarious worker in Guadaloupe, this character is part of this “strange conference of poets and great human beings” sung by Patrick Chamoiseau (2017) in Frères migrants. And it is through what Paul Gilroy (2012) names as characteristic of an “expressive culture” in opposition to the Enlightenment tradition that would separate art and life that Wilnor’s drama requires the actor’s own body to write in gesture and dance the destiny of your brothers. The objective of this communication is to reflect on the way in which Schwarz-Bart builds a scenic poetics in which absence and presence, secret and revelation move with delicate violence these “geographies of the wind” at the same time constituted by and constitutive of the migration processes that Chamoiseau tells us in his book.

Rodrigo Ielpo, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Natal, Rio Grande do Norte / Brasil

Possui graduação em Letras (Português-Francês) pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004), mestrado em Literaturas de Língua Francesa pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2006) e doutorado em regime de cotutela pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro e pela Universidade de Paris 7 (2010). É professor de Literatura Francesa da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Fez estágios de pós-doutorado na UNICAMP e na Universidade de Paris 7, ambos com bolsa FAPESP. Tem experiência na área de Letras, atuando principalmente nas seguintes áreas: literatura e teatro francês moderno e contemporâneo, relações entre literatura francesa e literatura brasileira, literatura e processos de subjetivação, literatura e história.
