Este artigo aborda, sob a perspectiva da biopolítica, a “questão dos animais” na obra de Coetzee, com ênfase nos romances A vida dos animais e Desonra. Pretende-se mostrar como o autor, por vias ficcionais, questiona as filosofias antropocêntricas do Ocidente e explora os possíveis nexos entre a violência contra os animais e a violência contra humanos, destacando-se como o pensador contemporâneo que, no campo da literatura, mais contribuição tem dado a esse debate.
