Analyse stylistique et version commentée de la nouvelle Adão e Eva, de Machado de Assis

Resumo: Esta investigação tem como objetivos promover uma análise estilística comparativa do conto Adão e Eva, de Machado de Assis, e de uma tradução de 2018 do mesmo conto feita por Costa e Patterson para a língua inglesa, com base nos critérios de Leech e Short (2007), bem como propor uma nova versão do conto para o inglês, com comentários sobre o processo tradutório. A metodologia selecionada foi o método misto, em que a abordagem quantitativa foi utilizada na análise estilística e a qualitativa, tanto na análise estilística quanto na versão proposta comentada para que se pudesse avaliar se as alterações em nível micro (linguísticas) causaram impacto em nível macro (estilo). São abordadas questões de domesticação e estrangeirização (VENUTI, 2008), retradução (BERMAN, 2013) e teoria dos polissistemas (EVEN-ZOHAR, 2000). Por fim, foi proposta uma nova versão para o conto, seguida da análise das escolhas feitas no processo tradutório.
