Abstract

This study analizes the process of contents selection developed in a daily situation of a teacher training school. Having the critical curriculum theory as framework, I analize data gathered in an ethnographic approach which highlights the role played by recommended curriculum and text books in teachers´ choice of the kind of knowledge to be taught to their students. It is considered, also, how these teachers consider and deal with those devices. Furthermore, I point out that teachers and students cultural backgrounds are not very much considered regarding that choice.
