This text tries to show the development of research by the interinstitutional research group on the relation work/education of the Fundação Carlos Chagas and of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. It presents the problems faced by the researches in the comprehension of the social practices directly related to the production, as well as the researches and events done in order to accomplish this study. It also describes the comprehension about the theme, which is a result of the accumulation of information achieved in the previous stage. At the moment, the group is establishing as perspective the understanding of work as cultural value and as a supporting element of the social practices developed in the everyday school life.
