Abstract

This article aims to deepen the reading of the territory from the perspective of the Doctrinal Chartes for the Heritage, in the area of The Railway Complex the city of Campinas, whose implementation segmented the city in two parts. One remained connected to the historic center and the other immisced itself to the outskirts of the city, historically engendering different actions and implantations of equipment, which have always valued the most central area to the detriment of the portion beyond the tracks. The objective is to build an analytical-propositional process structured in the Charters for Conservation, especially The Venice Charter (1964), The Washington Charter (1987), The Nara Document on Authenticity (1994) and the The Valletta Principles for the Safeguarding and Management of Historic Cities, Towns and Urban Areas (2011) and, to propose actions to reconnect these two parts of the city adopting contemporary propositions. This dilemma has been treated as an object of study in the Project and Heritage discipline, taught at FAU PUC-Campinas, seeking to consolidate the field of architectural and urban restoration in its teaching practices. The objective of the course has been to consolidate the theoretical-critical tools for propositional procedures in the area of interventions in pre-existing built environments, introducing contemporary elements, which must necessarily resolve urban issues, always in dialogue and prioritizing the preservation of heritage
