Pequenos objetos, grandes debates a construção de representações sobre Pelé nos selos postais moçambicanos

Resumo

Ao objetivar estudar as representações sobre Pelé através dos selos postais emitidos por Moçambique, o presente artigo se coloca como um ponto de confluência entre dois tópicos que têm suscitado crescente interesse nos pesquisadores: a construção da imagem de Pelé, processo que recebe maior atenção por estudos no Brasil desde o início do século XXI, e o potencial simbólico dos selos postais, materiais que ao longo do mesmo período passaram a ser tratados mais amplamente como fonte de evidências por historiadores, geógrafos, sociólogos e antropólogos. Entre outros, ao sugerir que os selos postais de Moçambique atuam nos dilemas e conflitos que marcam a imagem de Pelé, as análises aqui realizadas permitem contestar a perspectiva de que os selos que não apresentariam relação aparente com a história nacional, o patrimônio cultural, a população local, e os interesses políticos do Estado emissor seriam simbolicamente vazios e comunicativamente frágeis.
