Philip Roth é um escritor judeu americano cuja literatura sempre tratou da identidade judaica contemporânea e os conflitos envoltos nela. Em Operação Shylock ele aborda esse tema através de uma estrutura supostamente autobiográfica que engloba elementos extratextuais, como entrevistas e colunas de jornal. O presente artigo se propõe a analisar a forma escolhida e como ela é utilizada pelo autor para tratar dos conflitos e paradoxos da identidade judaica contemporânea.
