Darwin Core metadata standard
Extension proposal for ecological interactions in the context of agrobiodiversity
Keywords:
Darwin Core, Agrobiodiversity, MetadadaAbstract
It presents a proposal of principles for the creation of an extension of metadata for the Darwin Core standard for the domain of agrobiodiversity, with a thematic focus on ecological interactions. The aim of the research is to present principles and best practice recommendations for creating metadata as an extension to Darwin Core. The methodology consisted of analyzing the <onto.biodiversity> model, which is a conceptual model for representing biodiversity data developed by Embrapa, to verify the possibility of using this model as a terminological input. In addition to this model, an analysis of the specialized literature was made to understand ecological interactions. The core terms of the Darwin Core metadata standard were also analyzed in order to understand the semantic and syntactic aspects of the Darwin Core, which are fundamental to the creation of the metadata extension. At the end of the article, a sample of the results that is expected to be obtained at the end of the application of the methodology that is under development is presented.
