Abstract

The songs of Armando Albuquerque (1901-1986) on poems by Augusto Meyer (1902-1970) and Athos Damasceno (1902-1975) were composed in the 1940’s. This paper investigates Albuquerque’s compositional procedures, his use of narrativity and his choice of poetic themes; it proposes also the definition of specific terms related to narrative processes in music.
