The concept map is an educational resource whose benefits are supported by prestigious research. Nevertheless, its use by teachers is generally scarce and inefficient. The main objective of this research is to analyze to what extent the teachers in formation know, use and attribute value to this tool, also exploring how they perceive the received formation. For this, a quantitative approach is proposed; it is based on the generated data from the 1st and 4th year of Teaching Degree students, in a Spanish faculty of education. The results show a low familiarity of all groups with the concept map, although students believe it has a great educational potential. In addition, students consider that the training received with this tool was insufficient, which we consider to be a problem when we find ourselves in a context in which organization and information processing are core competences.
