Learning, in contemporary society, always represents a complex practice. The learning process is each time more developed within distance methodologies, using digital technologies, social networks, simulations and gamification tools. Digital virtual worlds and online multi player environments are used to simulate real situations and they can represent an innovative tool for the development of teaching, learning and educational processes, producing knowledge by enhancing and cultivating communities of practice. This work aims to reflect on the digital technologies potential in building virtual communities and for the continuous enhancement of the learning processes into these communities. A success case shows some useful technologies-concepts for observing the application of digital technologies in the learning processes.
