Abstract

The present paper is an experience report of a four semester offer of a teaching practice subject that allows undergraduate students of a biology-teaching program of a public university of Minas Gerais to study, to discuss and to elaborate pedagogical activities with the theme “Health”. This article seeks to reflect on the importance of Health Education in the elementary school trajectory and initial teacher training. The students approached specific bibliographies and pedagogical innovations and elaborated pedagogical activities that contemplate Health Education. Our data showed that the undergraduate students, who were initially unaware of the presuppositions and objectives of that teaching field, managed to present good practice tasks. Additionally, they appropriated specific concepts related to health education. The experience also evidenced their evolution regarding the use of new pedagogical tools and the perception about the role of Health Education in elementary school.
