The purpose of this article is to report an experience of a discipline offered to higher education during the period of the covid-19 pandemic. The challenge of this discipline was to discuss trends towards more inclusive didactic practices, disseminated in the literature with the perspective of being characterized as universal, that is, they are proposals that support the management of the academic curriculum in order to contemplate the diversity of the classroom, included those considered target students of special education. In addition to discussing these trends, the discipline was planned according to universal principles, with the aim of training by example. The students who attended the discipline showed satisfaction with the discussions held as well as the format in which it was offered. It is understood that this academic curricular activity can support the development of similar proposals in higher education and contribute to the training of teachers for the implementation of more inclusive universal strategies in regular schools.
